Change of Plans – Wednesday, April 15th

Here we are cruising the Yucatan Channel, on our way to Grand Caymen.  Yes, we have decided not to go to Belize due to the rough seas going that way…..and because we can!  After sailing the coast of Cuba all day Monday we set out to cross the Gulf Stream to Belize…..it was very rough so we turned back toward Cuba and tucked just off shore of the southern point to hide from the winds and rough seas.  We anchored there all day and night, just the three of us.  Mike and Gary took this opportunity to do some maintenance on the boat.

Weather and waves are good today, although we are motoring due to the winds at our bow.  We departed Cuba around 4am this morning and by 10am we had 15-20 dolphines leading at our bow….they gave quite a show and stuck with us for much longer than usual!  Our capability to download pictures is not so great at sea as it takes too much of our usage time on the internet via Satellite…so pics to follow in a few days.

I beleive we are handling life at sea well.  We are all still here and working together.  I, personally have learned how to navigate better on the GPS.  This is a good thing since Gary has a dendency to plot some courses over land…..(thanks for the warning Nicole!)  Not to worry, I have taken charge and plotted our course to Grand Caymen!  Mike has really trimmed down, and has lost at least 4 inches around his waist…3 belt loops as he says! His head of course has gotten bigger!  He claims he eats less at sea…..ofcourse I eat more so what he lost, I have found.  Thank goodness they say you burn alot more calories at sea just trying to keep your balance all day and night, otherwise I’d be a beast right about now!  Mike took the brownies away from me at dinner last night and Gary made us some chicken soup for lunch today….I think they migh be trying to tell me something.

Even the roughest days at sea are softened by the absolutely beautiful sunrises and sunsets…and the entire universe of stars we are able to see at night!  We all reflect on our blessings of having all of your love, support and prayers!

We anticipate being in Grand Caymen some time late Thursday, early Friday…of course depending on the winds!  More later…Marnie
