We’ve arrived in Panama – May 2, 2009
Hello all. Just a quick update to let you know we arrive in Panama this morning at 5am. It was a tougher trip than we expected as the seas were higher (8′-12′) than anticpated by the weather report. High winds (15-20kts.) made our trip a few hours quicker, which was good for Mike because he was very seasick. Gary did manage to catch a nice size Mahi Mahi enroute too.
We are currently docked at Shelter Bay Marina near Colon awaiting instructions from our Agent as to the next step. The Canal Inspectors will hopefully show up today or tomorrow to measure the boat etc…. We are hoping to be able to get through the Canal by Wednesday. We met a couple of 26 year olds from Maryland who just biked here from Maryland over the last 6 months…..and I thought we were tired!! They may make the Canal passage with us…we’ll see.
There are so many HUGE ships here it is amazing….pics to follow soonest.
More later.
