Well only 1,350 nm left to go. For those that like to know where we are on the globe; as of this writing (3:31pm UTC) we are 09 degrees at 25 min. South, 116 degrees at 08 min. West on a course of 256 degrees. Simply put, right, smack in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
With the exception of Sunday, we have been mostly lucky with the winds the last two days. They are currently keeping us right on course. On Sunday the winds were erratic at best. We were tacking back and forth every 30 minutes, at times. It was a rougher day at sea with many clouds and squalls moving through. It has been the only day without full sunshine since we started. Sunday is also the day we celebrated Father’s Day with a nice breakfast and Filet on the BBQ for dinner. Mike and Gary fished and caught more Mahi Mahi but were hoping for some Tuna from the fish gods for Father’s Day. (It’s been since the Caribbean since we’ve caught any Tuna). This was also the last day we had fresh veggies to cook. We didn’t find out until after dinner and digging out a calendar, that Father’s Day isn’t until next Sunday… guess that’s why they didn’t catch any Tuna. The seas were all churned up that day and we had flying fish jumping all over this boat. They even found there way inside thru the top hatches. Needless to say the salon didn’t smell it’s best for a few hours.
I like to compare being at sea like being in a snow globe. There is so much sky that at night it is as if a huge cap is placed over the sea because you can see stars horizon to horizon. So many stars and they are brighter and twinkle like I’ve never seen…(Must have been a sailor who came up with Twinkle, Twinkle little star.) During the day it is just bright blue skies horizon to horizon…if you can imagine.
Hopefully, we will continue our luck with the winds and make it to Marqueses earlier than expected….we don’t want to jinx anything though so we just remain hopeful! Keep us in your prayers and if you wouldn’t mind, be specific. Along with our safe passage, ask for winds out of the East/Southeast for us at 15-20kts…that would be greatly appreciated. (Every little bit helps!) Love to all….
