Marqueses Islands Here We Come – June 8, 2009
Well here we are, day 3 of our 24(ish) days at sea. It is quite peaceful out here, just as all the sailors we have met said it would be. Calmer seas and good wind. We actually put the spinnaker sail up this morning and are making great time. Our goal is to sail at least 150nm per day….so far, so good. We made friends in Panama with an Australian couple and a Brit aboard another Catamaran and they are 4.5 days ahead of us. We chat over the radio and check in with each other everyday. They do not have a spinnaker (or a pirate emblem) so Mike teases them that we will be catching up to them any moment.
Mike has really found his new niche in life….Fishing…go figure. He was so pumped up this morning that he caught 3 fish before anyone else even woke up….he claims he threw 2 back! Anyway, it’s good to see him so happy. We are doing rotating shifts for a change. We each do a 4 hour shift durng the day and then a 3 hour shift at night. The moon has been full the last few days so I don’t need to say how beautiful it’s been at night. All for now….know we are safe and sound and will check in at least every few days on the website to keep you updated. Love to all….Marnie, Mike and Gary
So glad you are still able to keep in contact. I need these updates. I am thinking of you guys and living the dream with you. Safe sailing.
Hi Guys….Love the post it’s one of my addictions (facebook is the other). LOL I can’t wait to see the pictures. It sounds so magical I wish I was there for the adventure. Hope your journey goes smoothly and hopefully you can keep your sanity. Hugs and kisses to all.
